30 Days of Whole30 {Easy Meal Plan + Recipes!} | Paleo Running Momma (2024)

Whole 30No Added Sugar

With the New Year just a few days away (!!) you might be planningto reset with 30 days of – you guessed it – Whole30!

We will actually be right there with you over at my house – Adam has decided to move up his yearly Whole30 for 2017 from February to January to get a clean start to the year. Possibly a few too many treats in November/December for our family. Of course now I have to follow along – I’m the one who does the cooking anyway, plus, there’s that nagging competitive side of me..

In perfect timing, Amy from Wholesomelicious, Jessica from Jay’s Baking Me Crazy and I are sharing our most popular, tried and true Whole30 recipes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner to make this one a successful month for all of us!

*To set you up for success, be sure to have basic pantry items you will be using throughout the 30 days! Definitely check out my Pantry Staples and Kitchen Essentials pages for ideas.

Also, keep munchies such as fresh veggies, fruits, nuts, for those many times you will be hungry (trust me!) Always keep on hand to help with snacking:

Cashew Protein Bars

Tahini Dressing (can be used to dip veggies or for salads)

Creamy Avocado Dressing (can be used for salads or a dip)

30 Days of Whole30 – The plan!

Below you will find links to all recipes that are tried and true reader favorites and Whole30 approved. The breakfasts are just a few ideas to use throughout the week; some are more time consuming, but are great treats for the weekend. Others can be made ahead and refrigerated as “grab and go” breakfasts when you have a busy morning.

Instead of being listed by day, they are lumped together for the week. Dinners and lunches are specific to the day. Some dinners will have plenty of leftovers for another night or lunch. Some lunches can also be made ahead on the weekends for easy planning. All meals with a *** means you can make them ahead on the weekends to use throughout the week!

Hi Michele! Realy loved your whole 30 recipes! I have completed a whole 30 in november and it was realy great! I felt good about being able to complete the whole challenge and about clean eating. My biggest challenge are sweets, because despite I don’t usually eat sugar, I’m always doing sweet paleo treats and stuff like that..

The thing that I’m impressed by about Paleo cooking is that it is not taste free at all; in fact Paleo cooks do a wonderful job of incorporating delicious tastes and flavors into their dishes.

Hello. My challenge is always clicking link by link to joint down things for the store. Do you have a pre made list of recipes and grocery list? i always get so frustrated and just give up. These items look amazing so I really want to try.

I don’t have an official grocery list but I do list many of my favorites on the “shop” pages in the menu. That said, you can completely use what’s available to you in your local stores! The shop pages show images so you can see what the packaging looks like so you can print that out as well. You can also have the links in the recipe open in a new tab (they’re typically amazon) and then just add to your Amazon cart to check out later on. Hope this helps!

    Michelle,
Your recipes are awesome and your breakfast casserole made my Whole30 so much easier. I always had a variation of the casserole. The first time I followed your directions to the “T” and it was delicious! Breakfast for several days, EXCEPT my kids, who “don’t eat brussel sprouts” LOVED it and they ate it too. So, I had to make another sooner than planned (great problem)! I substituted broccoli for brussel sprouts the next one, and artichokes for the third one. The sweet potato crust is great– I don’t miss flour crusts at all!I did my first Whole 30 starting 11/19/16 and killed it during the holidays…. the best Christmas present ever! I just finished my second Whole30 and on 2/22/17 I’ll start my 3rd Whole30. Your recipes are great and a staple in my kitchen with WellFed Weeknights and the Whole30 books. You are darling and I so appreciate your plans and recipes!

FAQs

What happens after 30 days of Whole30 diet? ›

Step Two: Reintroduction

The reintroduction period is perhaps the most important Whole30 stage. This is where you really learn how the foods you used to eat (and eliminated for the last 30 days) affect how you look, feel, and live.

Can you eat eggs on Whole30? ›

Foods allowed on the Whole30 diet mostly consist of minimally processed foods, including: Meat, eggs, and poultry: beef, veal, pork, horse, lamb, chicken, turkey, duck, etc. Fish and seafood: fish, anchovies, shrimp, calamari, scallops, crab, lobster, etc. Fruits: fresh and dried fruits.

What is a Whole30 meal plan? ›

The Original Whole30 has two phases: 30 days of elimination and 10 (or more) days of reintroduction. During elimination, your meals will include meat, seafood, and eggs; lots of vegetables and fruit; natural, healthy fats; and fresh herbs, spices, and seasonings.

Can you have rice on Whole30? ›

While grains (including rice) are not compatible with the Plant-Based Whole30 elimination, rice is often used for the fermentation and processing of certain forms of soy, such as miso and tempeh.

What is the hardest day of Whole30? ›

On Days 10 and 11, you are statistically the most likely to quit your Whole30. (That's why they're “the hardest days.”) By this point, the newness of the program has worn off, and though you've made it through most of the unpleasant physical milestones, you've yet to experience significant benefits.

Why do your pants get tighter on Whole30? ›

Sure enough, I was up 2.6lbs “overnight.” It's water retention and the beginning of the infamous “my pants are tighter” phase of Whole30 as the body continues expelling all the junk and getting used to a new way of eating. Day 8ish is usually a bit of a digestive adventure, so we'll see where things go.

Are potatoes ok on Whole30? ›

Are Potatoes Whole30? Yes! As of January 2021, all varieties of potatoes are included in the Whole30 diet. Yet, the catch is that fries and chips are not included in the diet as they are not considered to be “real” or whole foods.

What foods should you avoid on Whole30 diet? ›

Whole30 is a 30-day elimination diet with rules including the removal of alcohol, sugar, legumes, grains, dairy, and all processed foods. Followers of the diet have noted weight loss and increased energy, along with the identification of any problem foods.

Can I eat popcorn on the Whole30 diet? ›

IS POPCORN WHOLE30? No — popcorn is made from a whole grain (dried corn AKA popcorn kernels), and grains are eliminated on the Whole30 diet.

Can you eat bananas on Whole30? ›

What about bananas? Yes, both pickles and bananas are allowed on Whole30. Yet if they are a potential trigger food for you (for instance, the sweetness of bananas sets off a craving for other treats or makes you want to binge on the fruit), then you may consider including them on your “don't eat” list.

Is peanut butter Whole30? ›

Though peanuts and peanut butter aren't allowed on the Whole30 program, other nuts and nut butters are. Cashew butter is loaded with nutrients like healthy fats, magnesium, manganese, and copper.

Is oatmeal allowed on Whole30? ›

Since yogurt, cereal, toast, and even oatmeal are off the table, breakfast tends to be the toughest meal on the program. A few of us here at Greatist HQ completed the Whole30, so we can attest to that. Eggs get old — fast.

How long does it take to see results from Whole30? ›

It can take several weeks before you learn to trust the “hungry” and “full” signals your body is sending you—and you may not have been eating enough in the beginning, because you were afraid of all that fat. Many Whole30'ers report that they didn't feel or see “the magic” until day 45, 60, or beyond.

Do you gain weight back after Whole30? ›

Many people will lose weight on a diet like Whole30, but weight loss isn't the only goal. The diet can also help if you are at risk for diabetes, and help with conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome. But after a 30-day wonder diet like Whole30, it's likely weight will return if you don't follow a few rules.

Can you do Whole30 for more than 30 days? ›

In addition, while the Whole30 is totally doable for a 30, 60, or 90 day period, it wasn't designed to be a part of your everyday life forever.

Does Whole30 reset your metabolism? ›

“As well, you're not supposed to weigh yourself or take any measurements during the 30 days.” The idea behind this approach is to reset your metabolism and digestive tract. According to some research studies, elimination diets like Whole30 can be an effective tool to help some people with gastrointestinal issues.
